Gastronomy and Local Markets
During your stay in the region, you can enjoy all the region’s culinary skills from April to September! You can discover and savour our regional specialities and local produce:
The Brigantine: regional beers from the Brasserie de la Côte de Jade in Pornic.
The Curé Nantais, the famous Pornic cheese made with traditional methods.
The Fraiseraie, an excellent ice-cream maker also producing other fruit-based treats such as jams and syrups.
Les Ateliers du Pain de La Petite Maison de la Prairie in Pornic: bread and wood-fired oven pizzas, "fouées" (small pancakes cooked over the fire), but also cereal flour, ground with a millstone, homemade and jams and jellies cooked in a cauldron or caramel cream with salted butter.
Saint-Michel pancakes. As soon as you arrive in Saint-Michel-Chef-Chef, you will smell the delicious aromas from freshly cooked pancakes in the plant and which are sold in the Saint-Michel shop in the town centre.
Les Salines de Millac in the salt marshes of Bourgneuf-en-Retz: direct sales of fleur de sel, glasswort and coarse salt.
As for seafood - oysters, mussels, crabs, shrimps, clams - the oyster and mussel farmers in Bernerie-en-Retz, Moutiers-en-Retz and Plaine-sur-Mer welcome visitors by appointment to introduce their work. Direct sales possible.
Strolling along the colourful and perfumed market stalls in the Pays du Retz is a great experience.
